I think it had to do with getting another center since drai is playing up on Connors wing. Oilers were also going to lose Davidson in the expansion draft and he was the #7 d now that nurse is healthy.

I think Davidson and a 3rd for almost anyones 1st round would have been ten fold better though. Let's be real, the oil arent quite there yet and adding a depth center isn't really a smart long term move.
Oil arent legitimate playoff cup contenders and a 4th line center won't push them another round deep. I belive better off with a 1st. Just my opinion

Dude (or Dudette) , If Chia decided DD was the best fit for this trade, you have to believe he exhausted all other options. Your dreaming in technicolor if you think Davidson and a 3rd got you a 1st. Davidson is a depth dman at best, so bottom 6 which are a dime a dozen. DD is a offensive zone/ PP specialist. Which are a dime a dozen also.

No, but it makes it more likely that vegas will take him since he will most likely be the most experience player available on the Oilers
