Strome isn't worth an unprotected 1st from a non playoff team

As for the AZ trade. I actually think this would help both teams. Chychrun is clearly the best player in the deal, but he is going to block the other LD prospects. Those are two REALLY good prospects too. Kalynuk played top pair minutes at the end of the season over Keith last year. He's NHL ready today. Same with Beaudin. He just needs ice time that clearly the Hawks won't have with McCabe, Stillman, Ccjones, and I guess Church if this trade happens.

That trade doesn’t matter as much, I essentially used it as a placeholder. Strome appears to be our most valuable asset that we’re likely to trade and get a 1st round pick for, especially since centers are such a hot commodity atm

Yes you absolutely make that trade. That’s an amazing contract forget about the “prospects and picks” involved. Chychrun at 4.6 x4 for 4 also helps balance out the Jones contract. Which makes a reliable locked in top 4. Something hawks haven’t had since their last cup run.

Also Chicago’s track record of developming dmen is terrible as of late so I’m not too hopeful of Beaudin, Kalynuk, Mitchell.

That matters in regards to value, if we’re talking Ottawa’s first versus a team like NYI, TBL, etc. it’s night and day. A lottery team is going to tell you to pound sand for their first unless something better than Strome is coming back.
