Merkley isn’t NHL ready and we need Simek

Canes don’t need another dman, at least not now. Have 7 NHL 1 way dmen. Maybe if there’s an injury or two during the season.

In regards to Simek, I was looking for a place to trade him, not necessarily to Carolina but the injury I thought opened a door for us but that was more a general to any team who needs D help kind of trade. . and for his replacement, either it's Merkley or Kinazev or Pashinuk, no matter who takes the spot in camp we really need to look towards our future and utilize the last year or 2 of Vlasic being at least 3rd line capable and set him up as a mentor before we have to buy him out or better yet the possibility he retires/ pushed to LTIR if he gets hurt.
yes we could keep Simek and then make a trade in the offseason to remove one of the 4 older D. I was just jumping the gun here.

and as for Kane,
my hope is he shuts his mouth and puts in the work and has a good year that might prompt a team to take a gamble on him.
