I think here Romanov is signed to a 3 year deal for about 2.5-2.75

I think you are overcompensating with the performance bonus overages (correct me if I'm wrong), you still had $300K in cap space in year one and you had 24 players counting against the cap (I think MTL would waive someone, the cap space this year would be more valuable than being able have 3 players as healthy scratches at all times).

I'd also be disappointed if Suzuki signed at $7.5M for only 6 years and even more disappointed with the Caufield signing at 6 years $9M. That's the Toronto way... no short term cap savings as you are paying full value and no long term control either because you aren't maximizing term for that value.

Carolina and Philly just signed Svechnikov and Couturier for 8 years × $7.75M... that's what MTL should be pushing for with Suzuki IMO, the extra $0.25M cap hit per year is neglible but long term it could provide great value for MTL... age 29 and 30 Suzuki at $7.75M would be very valuable but I bet he would be pretty costly to resign as a UFA at that time if he isn't locked up right now.

    Dream would be $7.5M × 8 years... $60M total.

I mean I’d love to get Caufield & Suzuki on 8 year contracts, I was just trying to be as realistic as possible. If I end up being a bit low on the years, then that’s great.

The thing is that since the habs are operating in LTIR any performance bonuses automatically become overages, since we can’t accrue cap space.

I didn't know that... LTIR sucks haha

If Weber is actually done MTL should work out a deal to trade him back to Nashville.

They avoid cap recapture penalties, MTL can accrue cap space, it's really a win win for both teams.
