Like the idea, but the returns are bit iffy to my taste. For instance, CBJ got 1st+stuff for Savard double half retained, so I kinda expect ANA to gain at least somewhat close to that amount for Manson as well. Only a 2nd seems a bit meh to me.

Engvall is probably going to be claimed off waivers from the Leafs when the season starts, so his trade value is minimal. Rakell for a first isn't a great business move, especially half retained...they should go after more than that.

ANA would probably have to retain a part of Henrique's salary in order to move him. At his current level he's tad overpaid and won't carry much value.

I like the target teams though.

I used the Savard trade as a basis, but Manson being slightly worse with injury bugs over the last two seasons made me lower the offer. There could maybe be a 4th round pick involved or an equivalent prospects.



Envgall wasn't included for value, but to make sure Rakell fits under the Leafs' cap in case they add other roster players. Unless he has a major bounce-back season, as a rental, he should get more or less what Palmieri got last season imo.



They're taking multiple-year unwanted dumps in this scenario, which is more or less equivalent to some retention.

I took into consideration that Tampa would be accruing enough cap space through the season to be able to fit $1M by the deadline, but I just remembered that it may be more complicated with Seabrook on LTIR, which I'm not aware of all the subtleties.
