Can you elaborate a bit more, thought Chicago would like this, getting a winger who can play second line and put up points plus a second rounder for a player they have good depth in (Toews, Dach, Johnson)

Late pick and aging player for a young player who has shown 50pt potential isn’t what we are looking for right now.

I see your point and it certainly does seem logical.
Although I wouldn’t mind seeing debrincat-dach- Kane followed by kubalik-toews-smith.
Just seems like a better fit. Plus we’d get a second back which we could use.
I’m just not sold on strome. He hasn’t panned out anywhere.
And on your point for being a “50 pt guy”. He’s a 3rd line center On this team so he won’t be going over 35 pts this season.
It’s a nice cushion to have in case toews still isn’t ready though so like I said, I see your point, but there’s an argument to move on as well.

If you want smith, trade Strome for something else and get him in FA.
