In the absence of an offer sheet from elsewhere, I suspect Yamamoto will sign for one season and hope to cash in next summer. I would not automatically pencil Yamamoto in the 2RW spot, Kassian may surprise. I'd change things up a bit in the bottom six, definitely look to separate Turris and Ryan so there is potential to have a right-handed draw on both the 3rd and 4th lines. If Turris is the player Holland thought he was signing in 2020, then he should play 3C. Otherwise, he could be nice support for McLeod, or a solid depth forward who alternates time with Shore, Perlini, and/or Benson.

I also think Koekkoek will get more time than Russell. Lagesson should make a solid case for himself, but unless he is significantly better than the other two I suspect he may be moved via trade or waiver claim.

This makes sense for Yamamoto, but not for the team. I suspect that's the reason he hasn't signed yet... Bear's second contract didn't get done until late and I think Holland is going after something similar: $2M x 2 or something close. I'd love to pay a little more (up to $2.5M) and tack on a 3rd year, but I doubt Yamamoto wants to do that.

In the end Holland holds the cards, so I think we'll see a 2-year deal just before camp begins.

I agree with respect to the contract value.
