Does Barkov get that much? Can't think of a good team that could offer 10.5, so I think he stays in Florida.
NMC Bob stays. I wonder if Florida giving those contracts to Bennett and Verhaeghe were too much considering the short period they were actually good.

The pens will have like 35 million-40 million in cap space. Possibly more if they are able to trade 1 of Pettersson/Matheson and/or Zucker. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try and take a shot at him to extend their window.

After the 22-23 season is when Bob becomes somewhat moveable barring he approves. 3 years is workable for a team going thru a full rebuild given the return is worth it obviously. It’ll take quite a bit but I think FL could retain some money and then split the price between a couple of teams to get further retention for a team to take him as a player. IE retain $2.5M, send picks to rebuilding team B to retain at least $2.5M, and then send more to team C to take Bob at only $5M.

Also the year after this FL gets ~6.5M in cap just from Darling buyout being done and Yandle’s going back down to ~1.2M.

They’ll be able to work thru this but it’ll take a lot of draft capital so I hope they get their deep playoff runs and Cup because after this window it’ll take quite a bit of time to rebuild.

After 22-23 they have 26 million in cap space and only 12 players signed. Huberdeau, Hornqvist, Weager, Gudas are the notable UFAs and Knight is a notable RFA. It’d be pretty much impossible to work through it. They will need pretty much all their prospects to work out so they can use players with cheap contracts.

I’ll help you out, after 22-23 they have 8 roster players and 2 (Lundell and Schwindt) in the system signed and 38.5M in cap space at an 81.5M cap ceiling. We know next season is supposed to go up to 82.5M and should be safe to assume at least some sort of increase for 23-24. So they should have ~40M to sign 12 players assuming Lundell is in the NHL by then. That’s completely doable.

Great but he is a UFA after 21-22 meaning you’ll have to sign him next offseason when there is only 14-15 million in cap space and needing to sign 8 players. Considering Barkov will take at least 10 million of that. That leaves 5 million tops to sign 7 players.

Hornqvist won’t be a panther next season so based solely on this AGM they’ll have 6.5M to add 2 fwds and 2 Dmen to get to a 22 man roster. They’ll be fine.

3 fwds and 2 d if you get rid of Hornqvist next season, but that’s asking a lot. Most teams are pretty much at the cap or are over it. Only teams with cap space are going to be bottom dwellers that Florida would have to pay a hefty sum to trade Hornqvist to, if Hornqvist would even allow it.

it would be expensive to dump a productive player on a 1 year deal?

Yes because not many teams are going to pay to take on a 5+ million 3rd line player. Nor can many teams afford it. Either Florida will need to take cap back which defeats the purpose or would have to pay to dump him to a bottom feeder, in which Hornqvist probably doesn’t approve anyway.
