Figured, not sure who will be that third pairing RHD. I can see Hextall using the 2023 3rd to get a young guy.

I really liked Demers-- reminds me of Ceci. I see Bartkowski on right side too in cap, maybe him?

Hawks counter with Strome and Connolly for Pettersson and (1) 2nd. That $4.1M for Pettersson NEXT year is a killer. Can't take him unless cap is going back for the 2022/2023 season.

Well a couple of things. PIT has $32M in cap space available next year and 11 players signed. Hawks have $24M next year and 11 players signed. I know that's a very high level comparison, but PIT has $8M more to play with than CHI. Secondly, this thought process is entirely trying to create win/win scenarios. Not help Strome. Not help PIT. Not help CHI. CHI would rather trade Strome's rights away for lesser value than take on $4.1M in cap we don't have, BUT clearly IMO...they shouldn't have to because they're not forced to sell anyone.

You dont have to sign Malkin, Letang, Rust, Kapanen, etc, etc. Those guys will want at least 4 mil each

AND by trading away MP and getting Connolly, Next year you getting an additional ~$1.8M in cap space, PLUS $4.1M the following year.

hes getting resigned unless were out of a playoff spot at the TDL and end up trading him. But if were close to contention, we'll probably keep him

so, explain to me how we save cap space if were gaining 6.5 this year, and even more cap next here because Strome will want more money

Connolly will be (as is currently) non rostered with a cap hit of $2.375M. MP has a cap hit of $4.025. My rough calc was $1.8M. I was off a little. It's a cap savings of $1,650,175. Strome has RFA rights. We don't have a crystal ball. Maybe he's a complete bust and all you get is $1,650,175 in cap savings. (BUT to be fair you'll still need to roster another LD for the ELC) Maybe he plays outstanding and you either A.) want to sign him for more or B) trade his rights away for AT LEAST a 2nd. I don't see how PIT loses here to be perfectly honest. I'm actually regretting even proposing this because its looking worse and worse for the Hawks.

Pettersson is making 4.025, Strome will want at least 3.5. Connolly has a caphit of 2.375. Add those caphits together and we lose cap space. Not that hard to think about

5.875 is the caphit, and im sure strome will want more money so this rises. How do we save cap space?

AGAIN, you don't have a crystal ball If YOU say his market value is worth at least $3.5M....that means you think he's worth at least a 2nd. Pay players their market value. Don't arbitrarily come up with random stuff.

Hawks aren’t trading Strome.
If Toews was healthy then yes they would, but he’s not healthy and not sure what he’s capable of. Until they are sure, he stays with Chicago.
