i dont know much about the players or prospects in your system, but saying tom wilson is obviously too much, id say a decent prospect, a first and a top 9 RW/LW that first line of ovi backstrom and willy would be nasty

Doubt that gets you retention. Also players like that, youre going to have to give up a 22 1st

Everything from toronto's end is predicated upon them rebuilding, which they wont. You would need to send back a player of equivalent talent so they could continue to compete.

Why not do sheary and 2 firsts.Some People “claim” the caps are not going to make the playoffs so why not do it

Certainly the Leafs won't be retaining for three years, otherwise it's a fair deal. Trouble is the Leafs are in a win mode, so maybe they just prefer the keep Nylander.

The reason I did the retain was because of cap issues for the caps

Leafs are in the same position as the cap like 25 other teams. Leafs would have trouble finding a 4.75m player next season as good as Nylander. By the way, Nylander might have been the best Leaf player in last years playoffs.
