Description

Assuming Wolanin, Frk, Clague, and Grundstrom get sent through waivers. The Kings will attempt to trade Maata, but eventually, concede to let him pass through waivers.

Tkachev, Lizotte, Strand, Wagner, and Lemieux make the team more out of a fear of losing them as assets.

Top-line is providing Kopitar with wingers who he is familiar with in Brown and can help him score in Arvidsson, once a player looks like they have more offensive upside they can take Brown's role.

I am assuming the Kings want Danault to play a role he had a few years back when his wingers were Tatar and Gallagher. I see Athanasiou playing a similar sniper role, and Kempe being the placeholder for the offensive playmaker/scorer role until Turcotte or Kaliyev are ready.

The third-line provides Vilardi a role where he can continue to grow and wingers who allow him to be a threat without giving up goals in Iafallo and a playmaker with Tkachev.

The fourth line is supported by guys who have been staples to the bottom-6 and great on possession in Moore, JAD, and Lizotte

The Kings will start with Edler and Walker as the second pair but I believe they will have similar ATOI as Bjornfot and Roy.

So I was conflicted about keeping Clague in as the 7th man over Strand, it just boiled down to positional strength. If an LD went down, the Kings have options in the wings with Walker (can play both sides), Maata and Clague (if they passed). But right side gets thin if Doughty, Roy or Walker go down. It is basically Spence or Durzi if Strand is taken off waivers.

Grundstrom, it's becoming more of a matter of him not outplaying his competition. I think he's an NHLer just not long for the Kings.

That’s an interesting 4th line. Their energy would be very good if Lizotte is as effective as a LW. I would rather protect Clague than Strand, but I can see the argument.
