I like Brady and I don't like Faulk's contract but there's no obvious replacement for Faulk returning in this trade (which the Blues desperately need) and this might be homer-ish but how much better is Brady than Kyrou, really? I mean, I think he's a better player overall, but it's not like he was wildly outplaying Kyrou last year. Kyrou is signed for 2.8, Brady is almost certainly going to be 6+. Brady was on a worse team, and he's a bit younger, but yet only barely outperformed Kyrou in xGF% in a much much larger role. It would be an upgrade in a vacuum, but if you add in the cap allocation, I don't see the benefits as much. Add in that you're losing Thomas- an extremely promising young center- and you have to take Colin White- an extremely not promising young center- and the trade just doesn't do it for the Blues.
Brady is good, but might not be the elite franchise cornerstone that Ottawa has been ascribing to him. It's just too early to tell if he's going to take the next step from a 40-50 point player to a 70-90 point player or if the 50 point guy is about what you're going to get and given his reputation I would be wary about signing him to a big deal, even if it's a bridge deal. If you happen to have a Elite Prospects Premium account, this is a very good write up on Brady's play over the last few seasons: https://eprinkside.com/2021/09/23/whats-brady-tkachuk-worth
