Benson and Perlini aren't getting those contracts - they're bubble players right now and I have a hard time imagining what either guy would have to do to score a 3-4 years, multi-million dollar contract next summer. Add in a pinch of wishful thinking and a dash of history altering... this isn't a realistic look at what the 22-23 roster could look like.

how does the ellis and larsson thing makes any sense? So Larsson isnt selected/signed by Seattle so he is just a pending UFA and that somehow gets Ryan Ellis as the center piece from Nashville? Or after you extnd Larsson and flyers just traded for ellis both teams flip their players

either way this makes 0 sense in how you could get Ellis with Larsson involved

Larsson isn't selected/signed by Seattle and they got Benson. We also signed him 4x4 and then traded for Ellis and picks from both sides

you dont sign a guy just to trade him a few months later and flyers dont trade for a guy just to flip him for a lesser dman a few months later. And so in this world larssons signs 4x4 but doesnt want his NTC that he got from seattle either?

like I said it makes 0 sense

yes the larsson part does not make any sense as does signing parise to that contract.... way to much for a guy in the twilight of his career
also JP and Yamo contracts values is probably switched between the two.
benson perlini contracts also too high.
2 rookie left shot D will be a disaster as well.

Broberg has excellent skating and has a very good chance that he plays next season and Samorukov is Adam Larsson 2.0 but on the left side

im not disagreeing that they will both be oilers and good defenseman at some point. but there is always growing pains even for good players in the NHL. for a team that is in a win now mode having two rookie LD is a terrible idea.

having samorukov jump in to 2nd pair minutes and expecting him to be larsson 2.0 will leave you disappointed. he will very likely be over his head and struggle vs some of the best players in the NHL. It is a big jump from the A to the show.

I've seen him in practice against McDavid. He was excellent. Lots of hits and not giving Connor much space either.

once again practice is much different than a game.
and if you go back through history and look at how rookies perform in their first season and then look at multiple rookies the results are very underwhelming.

Yes there are exception when you add an elite level dman like a makar but neither of these players are elite.
