Chicago has spent a lot of money putting themselves in position to make a last run with Kane and Toews. I don't see them as an organization trading a contributing NHLer for futures. You'd have to give something up that helps them now.

As a Hawks fan, I actually think they'd do this. The DStrome saga is long and complex, but considering Bowman's handling of his ice time as of these past few weeks...I don't think Strome has a place in CHI anymore. I think the Hawks accept this to be honest. I think MTL wins the trade, but at this point the Borgstrom and Tyler Johnson have both played better than Strome, and of course Toews/Dach are going to be centers for the Hawks.

interesting perspective. I would've thought they would need something that helps them now for the end of JT and PK.

I've been on record saying (just my opinion) that there's clearly a center competition in Chicago. Toews, Dach, DStrome, Tyler Johnson, Borgstrom, Gaudette, Carpenter, Khaira (in no particular order) with additional prospects trying to vie for the #4C like Entwhistle and Barrett.

That's too many. Whomever lost their job would get traded because None of Strome/Borgstrom/Gaudette/Carpy/Khaira are waiver exempt. Also, Strome is losing right now. So Stan has choices. Keep him as a healthy scratch or trade him for assets. I'd prefer the trade option.

if anyone passes, I think it's Montreal. Struble looks really, really good at Northeastern.
