  1. Tkachuk, Matthew
Additional Details:
March 13th, 2001

A trade over Keith Tkachuk between the St. Louis Blues and the Arizona Coyotes.

1. The Coyotes got two decent roster forwards

Michal Handzus and Ladislav Nagy

2. The Coyotes also got someone who can play centre and was a late 1st round pick from a recent draft at the time.

Jeff Taffe was the 30th overall pick in the Year 2000 and his rights were moved to the Coyotes in this trade for Keith Tkachuk.

3. Finally, the Coyotes got a fresh 1st round pick for the year 2001 or 2002.

      February 25th, 2007

A trade over Keith Tkachuk between the St. Louis Blues and Atlanta Thrashers when he was a pending UFA at the trade deadline.

      1. The Blues got a decent roster forward

      Glen Metropolit

      2. The Blues also got a fresh 1st round pick for the upcoming draft in 2007.

      3. The Blues also got a fresh 2nd round pick for 2008 and a fresh 3rd round pick for 2007.

      4. The Blues would have also got a 1st round pick for 2008 if Keith Tkachuk re-signed with the Thrashers, which was never going to happen and both teams at the time knew that.

However, if Calgary does trade Matthew Tkachuk, he will almost certainly be signed to a long-term deal with Ottawa.

Calgary would also get the following draft picks based on what the Blues got for Keith Tkachuk in 2007:

        1. 2022 1st round pick

        2. 2022 3rd round pick

        3. 2023 2nd round pick

        4. 2023 1st round pick if Ottawa wins the Stanley Cup in either 2022 or 2023.

Because you can't use contract extensions as conditions on draft picks and the possibility that Keith Tkachuk would re-sign with the Thrashers was extremely remote at the time, then maybe this will do.

That first trade Flames decline. A center they don't need, someone who is a potential rental, and a prospect in an area they need. I personally am only interested in Grieg. This is my opinion tho

        Really interesting post good stuff

Ladislav Nagy was really really underrated tho when I calculated points/60 numbers of all forwards from 1998 to 2006 he finished here for instance:

        Eric Lindros 2.76
        Joe Nieuwendyk 2.71
        Paul Kariya 2.69
        Ladislav Nagy 2.65
        Jarome Iginla 2.61
        Steve Yzerman 2.59
        Sergei Fedorov 2.51

Ironically BTkachuk is his comparable here lol

Ladislav never had elite linemates either 👀

I think the Flames would be looking for a package more like Greig+Brannstrom+1st, not that they should move Matthew at all
