GMJR for GM of the Year 2018

Created by: jeg5393
Team: 2017-18 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 9, 2017
Published: Mar. 9, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Probably not the most defensively sound team but who needs defense when you're scoring 8+ goals per game...
Lots of rumors that Vegas could be coerced into taking MAF for a mid tier pick. And this is fair for what COL was asking for Duchene with 2 NHL players, a first round pick, and a prospect. But signing Jumbo Joe and Marleau is the longest of long shots. But if they're both approached with the offer would they take it for a chance at a cup or two?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think I'm undervaluing most of the players too much. At what point do all the players sacrifice 250-500k for a few years for a pretty much guaranteed entry to the playoffs?

I think they will be able to take more money and stay with SJS for just as good of a chance to win a Cup. I still think Schultz is looking at a contract over 4.5M though and Budaj isn't going to sign for under 1M after the season he had.

^ Agreed. Budaj kept LA's season alive and played very very well.. 7 shutouts this year, he will get more than that

Marleau would be cool if he came cheaper than 4.75M. Pass on Jumbo. Nothing but respect for him as a player but big and slow doesn't work in Pittsburgh's system. That bottom D-pairing just isn't feasible. Maybe Ruhwedel. He's over performed expectations during his time in PIT. Bengtsson definitely won't be NHL ready next season. Hopefully he will be AHL ready, due to his ongoing health concerns. Hence, trading Maatta without signing any other d-men just doesn't work.
