Colorado Total REBUILD

Description
Duchene for Pesce and picks is a trade thats legit. Carolina needs a #1 scoring C and Joe Sakic the Colorado GM Is looking for a young top four defenseman in return for the blue-chipper he decides to part with. ---------------------------------------------------------------

The next trade is to get new blood in the system. Barrie becomes expendable with Pesce's arrival. Killorn is acquired because he's super solid and he's a total leader. They also get a great pick and ship out guys who just haven't really produced for them. I thought Grigorenko and Zadaorov would become good, but it doesn't seem they have. Trade em for a first and a leader. maybe they want more back but I dunno what else they could get.-------------------------------------------- I traded Landeskog to My team even though I hate the thought of him playing for us. I see him as a 50 point player with good intangibles. Theres literally like a hundred guys in the league who score 50 points each year. Not a big deal to me at all so I was kinda cheap. I stuck to the theme Sakic set and offered a youngish top 4 defender who can play their two way game. The pick is also a huge part of the deal as Colorado really really needs more young talent. Not really sure how they got so barren but it happened.-------------------------------------------------------- The goalie swap is self explanatory. Both need a change in scenery, but Varlamov has more upside in my opinion so Dallas nuts up with a 2nd rounder to get the deal done.--------------------------------------------------- The deadline deals are to squeeze every bit of value out of guys they are not going to resign. Those guys aren't longterm answers so they get moved for moderate picks.------------------------------- I understand this will be a hard mock to interpret and comprehend because there is so much going on and some of the players listed are in spots they wouldn't be in the year of this setting, but I didn't want to make a 2019 Mock and go back and trade all the guys who are no longer under contract and crap for picks because that would be harder and more complicated to do. Please imagine fill in players where the young guys are for this year, but also realize those young guys will likely emerge into the spot they are placed in or even a more prestigious role.

think you overvalued the LA and NYR trades. also, I dont see Boston parting with krug as their back end is slim. love the Dallas trade. duchene to CAR sounds reasonable. maybe a little more going COL's way? also think Colorado can get more for barrie. young puck moving RHD are hard to come by

Those two picks you think are overvalued are that way because its a deadline deal and people get stupid at the deadline to fill their roster for a cup run. Maybe your right and i Overestimated a bit but if it was like a 4th for 2 players I'm not sure it's enough. I;m a Bruins fan and I would literally drive Krug to the airport to trade him. We already have his replacement in Matt Grzylck. Sane size same skill same heart but younger and doesn't cost freakin 5 million. Your right on the Barrie deal but I did the deals in order of which they would happen so I didn't want to start over. If you add in like Namestnikov going to Colorado I think it's pretty solid. Thanks for the input I'll try to do better next time.

Yeah as I said in my reply to the first guy who commented: Just add in Namestnikov going to Colorado. That's what I wanted to do but I wanted the stuff in order.

I still think the TB deal is **** for the Avs. Killorn is over-paid and is a 2nd liner at best. Zadorov was a big poart of the O'Reilly trade so I doubt they move him at all. Coburn is nothing but a cap dump. Namestnikov is still a 3rd liner.

Killorn is like poor mans Landeskog. He's a great leader. Namestnikov = Zadorov... they both aren't good. The first is better than Grigorenko. I think it all balances out to some degree. The most important piece for them is to obtain new leadership support for Mackinnon who'll wear the C, it's his team now and they get a prospect who's got first round talent. Coburn sucks and thats true but they can flip him at the deadline for a 6th or whatever. The first and some leadership support was my criteria for trading Barrie. It's just a way for them to reset things and start over. They tried with Roy as coach but it flamed out and went stale so they need to freshen things up with new players and start the building process over.

The problem with the Avs is not their core, it's the lot of 3rd and 4th liners that they have behind their big 4 (up front). As for Barrie, he alone can net you a D and pick/prospect in return. The problem with Killorn is that he is a 3rd liner (apoor man's Landeskog is a 3rd liner). Avs already are stacked with them.

The problem is the core because it's not strong enough and theres no way to get strong enough without dismantling and starting over. Roy leaving screwed the team hardcore. They are mostly young guys who bought in for him and tried harder for him and were better for him. Without him they resemble several giant turds on skates gliding around out there. How would you ever get the pieces needed to really turn the team around if you don't go for a bunch of young players? I think Colorado has like zero good players. Theres 3 forwards in MacKinnon, Landeskog and Duchene and then Barrie and Johnson on defense. Everyone else is just like having gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe: It's not positive having them there, they won't go away and it's annoying. Most of the Avs players belong in a dumpster somewhere and they've shown it all season. They need more heart and thats what Kilorn provides. The entire problem is that Roy walked away and most of the players loved playing for Roy, but you can never take that back and change what happened so you need to get new people who haven't had that experience and who are hopeful and wanting to do good. That's how it works, if you stay the course you'd be bad for a very long time, like Toronto's recent style long time. Your not guaranteed the #1 pick either while you crap the bed with the same turds who literally play poorly and resemble people that have no heart this season and get brought behind the woodshed by like every other team in the league. Even Arizona is laughing at Colorado and Arizona will probably get tool'd on by Vegas next year. Colorado is just way down there they just have to do something to shake things up.
