The fun part about this, is the last winger that got run out of town for being "Overpaid", "Lazy", "Not a winner", "A liability", and whatever other hilarious narrative people want to scream about because they hate Marner, is the player you're trading away in the other trade...That player went on to win back to back cups in his first two years away from the Leafs, putting up around a point per game, and, hilariously, after all is said and done, the only remenants of him in Toronto are the $1.2 mil that they're still retaining, and Rodion Amirov who was acquired in the Kapanen trade.

I don't think it would be a second, given the retention on Kessel. But i think a 3rd or 4th rounder would be fair forsure.

The biggest problem I see is that it's all futures. Regardless of what people say Marner is a star on a team that would only trade him for assets that put them closer to a cup now. They would need roster players that fit their needs now.
