Hardly any decent forwards are available in the expansion draft. Loads of prospective goaltending and defenseman talent. I went heavy in the goalie department with the idea that two of the prospects would be traded away for picks. A young Matt Murray (22) at under $4M for the next three years is a huge asset. Obviously, the Penguins would like to keep him. Thoughts?

Some great picks but too many goalies. Good forwards will probably have to be traded for. I don't think Bjugstad, Brouwer, Zibanejad or Strome will be available for the expansion. I understand that Zucker is from Vegas but I think there are better D men to be taken over him in the draft. Also there are better quality D in San Jose then Dell. And yes Murray will be kept by the Pens... Grubauer is the best option available (also my first choice).

Thanks for the feedback. Goalie prospects would be moved for protected forwards. I struggled with selecting enough forwards. This will be a huge handicap to Vegas.
I could see Ryan Miller taking the starting job in Vegas as a UFA. I just hope the Canucks trade his negotiating rights as that would likely be worth about a 5th or 6th rounder coming back.
MAF will have to be moved at a huge deficit to PGH. Matt Murray alone is worth 2 or 3 late round picks at least. Pittsburgh would have to pay extra for Vegas to take on MAF contract.

On Minnesota I protected Brodin and Dumba. I don't believe selecting Scandella or Spurgeon would be in the best of interests of Vegas and had the problem of selecting forwards.
Bjugstad makes $4M and has a hard time staying healthy. 43 points over the last two years.
Brouwer or Lazar or Ferland gets exposed. I went with protecting youth and exposing a expensive long-term contract
Zibanejad I agree. Grabner should be exposed instead.
On Strome I agree as well. Having to protect Quine hurts the NYI. Taking Clutterbuck with an eye to moving him at the trade deadline.

Having 6 goalies makes little sense even if your plan is to move them imo. All you need are Sparks and Brossoit (even though I think the latter is very overrated), as I don't see Wedgewood and Dell garnering a big return. Try Stefan Noesen and Melker Karlsson instead; they would help out with the subpar wing depth. Then you'd be looking at something like:

Zucker-Zibanejad-Smith
Strome-Bjugstad-Brouwer
Di Giuseppe-Namestnikov-Karlsson
Dano-Helm-McGinn

Savard-Manson
Beaulieu-TVR
Forbort-Oleksiak

Murray, Grubauer

Press box: Noesen, McQuaid, Cousins
