I'd say it's not time just yet for the Canucks to blow up their team, and do the devils really regard Ty Smith as being disposable even if he has value? I don't know how high the Canucks are on Ty smith, but I would be inclined to think they could fetch a package like that for Horvat alone. I've heard Ty Smith in a fair number of trade proposals involving New Jersey as oppose to Jack Hughes, Shakir Mukhamadullin, let alone Dawson Mercer or Alexander Holtz, so I don't know that his value as a prospect is quite what it was maybe a year or two ago. I know Smith is still young, but to me he looks more like a decent project than a reliable prospect at this point

And there it is, a trade where nobody is happy. Nice work, everyone.

But also honestly, I agree. Doesn’t fit their timeline. If there’s a team much more likely to rush the rebuild, it’s probably the Rangers.

I don’t see this team being a contender in the next two seasons and so getting what you can for Horvat and Miller seems reasonable to me.

Honestly, I see a lot of the 2009-10 Tampa Bay Lightning in this group but getting over that hump requires more in the system. Team can’t expect a Kucherov, Palat 2011 home run draft, but they can influence those odds over the next few season by getting picks. They need to fill in the group coming up behind Pettersson Hughes and Hoglander IMO.

You could be right, at least influence the next several drafts if you can't score a homerun with the very next one

Devils already have insane center depth
They don't need Bo at all, especially for that cost

That trade doesn't make sense for Jersey, the already have a one two punch of Jack Hughes and Nico Hischeier
