They should trade Malkin and Letang also.

Malkin is willing to take a paycut, however letang is not. I'd give both 3 years $7M. I would not bring back Bryan Rust, he wants Hyman type of deal.


If we're out of playoff contention by time the deadline hits and its not looking good I would trade them. Another interesting idea I heard is trading them at the deadline for first round picks and then bringing them back in the offseason, as they will be free agents. Then they can still contend, while also having enough picks to be set for the future. I think sending them to a contender for the rest of the year getting picks and bringing them back could be very smart if we are in a very bad spot by January.
