Rangers get some sandpaper in Gallagher to replace Blais ( Habs may have to hold some cap to make the numbers work ) + a solid D man to anchor Fox ( UFA end of year )
Habs get younger. Chiarot would likely leave end of year anyways. I really like what Gallagher brings but he is overpaid and hurt often. He would be a nice role player for NY. Gallant would love coaching him and he could room with Goodrow.

Problem is Rangers have no interest in Gallagher with that cost and term. Even with the Habs covering partial cap hit he spends way too much time injured. Rangers are just fine where they are at, and will probably just look to add at the deadline for picks / prospects. At that point they can get Chariot for a 2nd and a prospect.
