Rust a 1st

Carter a 2nd

Rod a 5th

You think Malkin and Letang are simply worth late 1sts? I think they definitely get a 1st+.. Malkin's deal is maybe a bit much, but Letang seems good. A 1st, B prospect, roster player in Holl and cap dump in Ritchie.
Rust you say a 1st and Carter a 2nd. DeBrusk has been underperforming and could use a change of scenery. Studnicka is decent and Moore is a cap dump. That total is maybe worth a bit more than a 1st.. Finally, you get a 2nd, which is Carter's value.
I originally had Rodrigues getting a 4th, but he has 11 points in 15 games.. I think, if he keeps it up, he can get a 3rd.

It's mainly age and the fact I can't see them leaving PIT. I personally wouldn't trade for old, declining players who are expiring UFAs with no extension

The Leafs don’t want Letang.

The Leafs dont want a top 4 RHD that they have needed for the longest time? Especially now with Holl and Dermott on the trade market?

There are players on Pittsburgh I’d have interest in. Letang isn’t one of them.

Plus, that’s a big price for a rental.
Especially when there’s other areas of need that are more important.

i dont hate the idea of acquiring letang,

but i cant see the leafs needing laferty or wanting to get rid of a first and ritchie and holl.

but i think a more fair trade for both sides would involve more prospects and the leafs trading out cap somewhere else and maybe the penns being used to do so with them retaining for the leafs

lets say the leafs found another team to retain another half, idk where for like a 3rd

i think the leafs would then be comfortable trading

but i wouldnt be comfortable with trading more for an old Offensive defenseman, despite the fact he plays on the right side.
