Quinn is a poor fit in Colorado (imo). Girard works fine behind Makar and without PP1 time. I don't feel like it would be the same for Hughes.

I'm totally into Miller to Colorado though. It would just need to be for futures and not subtract anything from the current roster.

The only trades of him are to NJ because ppl want to see all 3 Hughes on the same team

I wouldn't have an issue with Barron plus for JTM. They would need to either take JTC and/or retain some salary, but it would be worth it to maximize the Cup chances during MacKinnon's last two years on his current deal.

Because McDavid’s contract was signed like 3 years ago and it was a steal compared to what Matthews got after . McDavid if he signed his contract after Matthews would get 15. McDavid also took 8 years and Matthews took 5. The cap has also gone up since and will continue to do so in 2-3 years and after. So 14 x 8 is probably fair value for Mackinnon who I think is better than Matthews

which is great but long term is the problem. avs are adding more money to a defense that is already quite stacked. it's just not need and will come at the expense of goaltending or depth scoring which i think are more important.

Hughes for Girard is a lateral move, Avs could use Miller though but idk why Colorado is trading the cheaper dman for a similar type of player, also they have enough of the Hughes/Girard type dmen, they need some muscle on the backend.
