Soooo the rangers trade a top prospect AND a pick for ..... an overpaid bottom 6 guy and a LHD when they already have plenty of LHD and defensemen all togerher. Id say NYR has zero need for either of these players

Hard no from Rangers. They have zero need for more defenseman, and no need for a 31 year old aging center, don't care how much salary the retain.

Rangers easily decline. No one is willing to take on Johnson's cap hit.

The Smith trade... that's actually an interesting idea. I would say turn the 3rd into a 2nd and you could potentially see it happen (people don't realize how good Kurashev was last year + he's only 22).

The NYR is a reach at best. The Islanders need DeHaan not the Rangers but they wont be taking TJ.

I really don't like the Smith trade, Kurashev holds plenty of value and lets be honest, are we going to be able to keep Smith beyond this year.... probably not. Not because we can't attract players but because of our salary situation and the fact TJ will be hard to move if its needed.
