Even Bedard, who has tonnes of talent, can learn from guys like Donato, until he fills out some more over the next couple years. Bedard has the puck stripped away a lot, because he thinks he is 2 steps ahead, when he isn't anymore. He also doesn't know where to be defensively, and when he does throw a check or stick checks to steal the puck, he doesn't have control, and the opposition steals the puck right back. Staying on those plays and knowing the role of all your linemates is huge in the nhl. If you don't learn that chemistry, it makes for some tough shifts, and a lot of chasing the puck instead of creating chances. The Blackhawks won't win with just talented young guys. They need to develop the weaknesses in the young guys. There is no sense trying to build a team to win next year. Plug in those key veterans that can mold the young guys until it is installed in them how to play all aspects of the game for the next couple years.

Radko Gudas is good buddies with Mrazek. Maybe they can convince him to come to Chicago... and add a Tanner Jeannot on forward. Hard hitting players that will protect and drop them with anyone, plus not complete liabilities.

Lol, he is frustrating at times, haha! The main plus for Tinordi is that he is a beast that will step in and protect his teammates. I would love to find someone that can do that and be dependable, not make critical mistakes in their game.

He will be looking for a deal like Palat and Killorn got. There is also nothing wrong with giving him term as Chicago isn't going to be in cap trouble for some time. Roslovic gives you a solid middle 6 center and in his prime.
If you are looking for a tough guy I would suggest brining back Reese Johnson. William Carrier is also a solid option. I could see Mantha looking to reup his career somewhere too</div></div>
UFA'S that come to mind and what would lure them are; Tarasenko, Tyler Bertuzzi, Matt Martin, Liam O'Brian, and Chris Tanev. 2 tough wingers that can play top 6, 2 4th line fighters, and a top 4 Right defense. 1 from each group, or 2 top 6 and a fighter. Tyfolli fits in the first group as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>This is an outsiders perspective but I think Slaggert and Nazer should start in the AHL unless they have exceptional camps.
UFA wise my suggestions would be
1. Tyler Toffoli: 5-6M x 5 years
2. Jack Roslovic: ~4M x 4 years
I don't recommend signing more 1 year deals unless someone is truly looking to redeem themselves You only have 2 retention slots and 3 pending UFA's. Also if you are going to offer Vlasic that much you should try and get way more term, I would base it off the Marino, Samuelsson, and Mikey Anderson deals</div></div>
Most likely, slaggert and nazer, are potentially ahl. I agree with signing Vlasic for more term if possible. I am not a fan of signing Tyfolli or Roslovic more than 2yrs, but fine with signing these players however. I think they will need an enforcer signed to replace Tinordi... and on defense as well. Plus I would like to see a winger comparable to Jeannot that will throw-em with anyone and forechecks hard, with lots of hits. Team needs to toughen up, to put fear in other teams coming at the smaller stars.

You are also below the cap, I suggest bringing in a top 6 vet. Personally I think this is the perfect team for Toffoli, gives you guys another goal scorer and you will actually be able to offer him the term he wants without it harming you down the road</div></div>
I agree with you. I mentioned it in the description, as well, but if this is the starting point plus 3 tough ufa's. Who would fans like to see if 3 ufa's were signed to this squad?

Calgary back to Reichel era
Yeah, not happening on Chicago or Calgary end! A 1st rounder and 2 picks is too much; and Chicago is just now seeing Reichel comfortable carrying the puck, digging, forechecking, backchecking, to show he can play in this league. It will need to carry over to next year and translate into points. Playing with better lines in the future could lift him as well. One more year to see him improve at least in Chicago.

Someone needs to work with Dach and break his soft play. He needs to start getting aggressive and forcing turnovers. .. and how to win face-offs. The talent is there.
Strome has improved his 2-way game, face-off percentage and worked on his complete game on where to be on the ice... which turns into better ice opportunities and the points are adding up because of it.

Lindholm and probably Copp and Smith will all sign for more somewhere. Haha, trying to plug them in under cap. Gudbranson is the toughness needed for the 3rd pairing to pair up and protect one of the call-ups. He will penalty kill, and drop the gloves if needed to help Galvas, Beaudin, Kalynuk or Mitchell find their place in the nhl. Copp, Smith, Aston Reese bring a checking game and intensity for each line which is needed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Unfortunately Toews won't be back. There's still no timetable for his return.</div></div>
Haha, after the loss today, it was wishful thinking that by the end of the month we will see Toews, Stillman, Reese, and Lankinen return soon and set-up some balanced lines that they stick with. Had Reichel, Gus and a couple others plugged in b4 I added the Injured reserve list. I find McCabe works hard but is caught out of position a lot in his own end. Dach needs to start being way more aggressive as he has the size and talent but him and Kane seem to let the other team go free to trade chances and we are getting out chanced. Need a grit player on each line to break up plays and open up opportunities. Every rush and set-up for Chicago is telegraphed now. Drop to Kane who tries to skate around everyone and feed the cat which is their only play. Need to mix it up and get dirty goals.

To get a No.1 goalie for 1750000 for a playoff run with a stacked team where Lehner may be out for the season and with Dadonov gone to alleviate the cap issue for your one shot at a cup. The cost of a meaningless Brisson would be peanuts, but like I said, cough up a 7th for the cup, who cares! Haha!

Dach isn't the face-off specialist that TJ is but Dach adds much needed size on the line, and he plays well in the corners and behind the net in the offensive zone. The line will be better balanced with him.

Reese Johnson plays similar to Hagel but with less scoring and more hits. A player like Hagel, Hardman, and Reese on each line will open up a lot of room on the ice for their line-mates. They create turnovers and mistakes by the other team and they all play stronger defensively coming back and breaking up plays. A 4-3 loss can be a 3-2 win and their work ethic and heart is contagious for the room. Strome is skilled but he is only randomly in the play as he skates in circles. When scoring, he looks amazing but he is not playing a complete game. 5 on 5, Chicago is struggling. Trying these lines for a few games would not hurt.

Haha, I figured that would stir up all you Canucks fans, hence the explanation heading at the top; just for fun. Lol, sensitive bunch. By the way, Canucks are looking for a defenseman that can play the right side which (De Haan) can and I retained salary, a checking line center man due to Sutter being out that is cheap and experienced (Carpenter), a 2nd round draft pick is more than worth Klimovich, and Nylander would have upside playing in a better situation with opportunity, plus Shaw was thrown in to go on LTIR to alleviate any cap issues. I totally agree that they would not part with podkolzin for this, but like I said, it was all in fun; fun for us Hawks fans anyways, haha!

I believe Nylander has too much competition to crack the 3rd line. Playing him above others playing well right now is a waste. Kurashev and Hagel are both clicking with anyone they play with in the lineup. Borgstrom and Entwistle are playing well also right now. Gaudette and Hardman are show flashes of skill. All 6 are playing better offensively and defensively than Nylander. RJ, Khaira, Carpenter on the 4th line are physical threats, and also are playing better than Nylander on offense and defense. Reichel looks way better and after he has a year in Rockford, he will fit in better than Nylander. I don't see a spot where he compliments this line-up with how he is performing now.

Carpenter and Stillman will be more often than not regulars in the roster. I agree with you. Just opening up spots for youngsters playing well in the preseason for a couple games before they are sent down like Reese Johnson and Mike Hardman. I would like to see more of their energy in the line-up. They open up ice for their team and shut down opportunities for the other team similar to Hagel. One of them may very well take over Carpenters role after this year. Kalnyuk has been seeing some pp time while stillman is stronger defensively. Chicago is still rotating in young guys to see what will click on the powerplay.

Yes, you are right about Nylander. He will have to be kept up and get some games in. If he plays well then they will try to hold on to him and if he doesn't then they will have trouble getting value. With Kane, Debrincat, and Kubalik on the wings, there is no spot for Nylander to get minutes on a top line and I think Toews needs a grinder on his right side which Nylander doesn't fill or hasn't shown he can grind and score to carry a line in the bottom six. He needs a new home and line-mates similar to what Anthony Duclair has been trying to do, having someone feed him the puck and give him confidence to score. Hopefully we can flip him for a decent prospect.
