Same for both trades, just random. Take out prospects if you want and substitute. The players going to sabres and devils do fill gaps in line-ups but mainly it was just to move out bodies from blackhawks for final line-up. The return can be whatever works.

Like I mentioned in comments, just random. Take Quinn out if you want and substitute. Strome does fill an immediate Center need for depth if JE and SR leave however. Kalynuk is ready for full-time role in bottom pair and has potential.

The next contract he signs will be a long-term contract that pays him what he feels he is worth, or a one year deal that leads him to UFA. If you trade for him and try to offer him only a bridge deal I do not expect he will sign it. You’re welcome to hang onto him until the trade deadline and see what she can get for him then. But if he walks away from you for nothing that would be on you.</div></div>
Fair opinion. If it is anymore than that for Reinhart then I would be more content paying half that almost for a Blake Coleman type that is pretty versatile as well.

Ottawa was a random pick. I am sure some team could utilize his hard nosed play and defensive awareness on a 4th line.

Reinhart was a -28 playing on the top line, with almost half of his 40 pts on the powerplay. He wasn't used to pk, he doesn't hit or block shots much. He doesn't drive the line even though he is on a weaker team. A bridge contract playing on a line that he can compliment would drive up his value for when he hits UFA age.

I think Boqvist might as well stay and get some experience now but he should not be paired with DK. I think DK stays with Murphy who tries to keep up in minutes. De Haan plays a simple game and should stay with Boqvist to protect him, and I think the Koekkoek-Maatta has played above expectation - they are all over the ice, involved with the play, being responsible and creating plays. Kampf/Highmore have played well together and Carpenter just showed up for the first time in the playoffs as he has been poor so far. I think the lines should be Kubalik-Toews-Caggiula so the latter can create some room for chemistry on the line. Saad-Dach-Kane makes the line safer defensively and tougher to play against. Saad was playing well with Kane when he reached 1000 points. Then 3rd line should be Debrincat-Strome-Sikura. Give Sikura a chance and double shift Kane here if you must. Sikura would have to play aggressive and Strome needs to get his game together.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DaKeGa</b></div><div>I agree with your pairings of Saad and Dach as Toews/Kubalik makes sense and works plus Strome needs to stay with Debrincat. That puts Kane back with Saad. Nylander
I agree with you, Toews/Kubalik works, Strome/Debrincat need to be together initially, leaving Dach/Saad together which is fine. Whether it is the 3rd line or not does not matter, just one of the three lines. The problem is matching RW's on these lines; Caggiula has worked with Toews other than being injury prone, Nylander doesn't compliment any line unless they have someone defensively responsible (he would work with Kampf,Highmore for now and move up the line-up when needed), and Kane rotates through all of the lines with no consistent linemates. Biggest hole in the line-up is the RW on Strome's line and Strome hasn't sold me on being that solid at center without help.</div></div>
What you have put for lines look fine for now with what we have. We just need to find one more strong body for balance on RW that is tough, gritty and defensively responsible.

Hawks signing Kalynuk
I believe that De Haan, Murphy, Maatta, and Koekkoek all hold their own playing together defensively. The issue is in the lines and pairings where they need paired with each other to be responsible defensively on a consistent basis... or they need paired with an offensive defenseman with very high possession numbers or having a great offensive year. Gustafson did well last year but his numbers were down significantly this year. Chicago just don't have that successful offensive guy on the point. So pairing any of the defensive guys with Boqvist who is still getting his bearings, Gustafson that is weak defensively as well, Seabrook who has slowed down, Gilbert that hit hard but exposed himself, Keith that plays risk/reward sometimes and even though he logs the minutes, isn't the as solid as 5 years ago, creates weaknesses in the pairings. With the young blood coming up, I think they can create the right formulas. Dillon, Hamonic, Tanev, etc. etc. Do not do any better on this team and do not save any money either.
The problem with Saad is that he does not play much better on a first line than he does a 3rd line. Not because of skill but because he plays his own game and doesn't enhance his linemates. He can carry a line alone scoring 25 plus goals so he might as well be on the 3rd line. If you put him on the first line with Toews or Kane he might score 35 goals but them are goals the lines will get with or without him. Then if he is on the top 2 lines, you have no scoring on the 3rd line. That is why he is valuable because he can do it alone. He is one of few players that can steal the puck, carry the puck the length of the ice and muscle off the opposition and score and that is how he plays. He should only move to the top 2 lines on the PP, PK or when you need the best players on the ice to give a chance to score immediately and you are not using all of your lines.

trading Nylander
I would prefer Kapanen but he is a little more costly right now. Hawks need a Kapanen more than a Nylander. Nylander is trumped by debrincat, kubalik, and kane. They could use a player that forechecks and backchecks hard and opens up the ice for linemates like Kapanen. Nylander will only succeed with someone that can carry a line at this point.

2014: Ekblad -> Draisaitl, Dal Colle, Tuch
2012: Yakupov -> Galchenyuk, Reilly, Teravainen
2006: Erik Johnson -> Toews, Kessel, Stewart
Also the trade isn't just 3rd + 5th + 18th, which I still think is bad for Ottawa, it's 3rd + 5th + 18th + 2021 1st + 2022 1st. Sens aren't a playoff team next year or probably the year after. That's two more lottery picks. It's an absolute joke of a trade.
Sens are very good at drafting and developing. I can confidently say that I would expect them to be able to take the 3rd, 5th and 18th best players in the draft, and develop them in to players that combine to bring more value over their careers than Lafreniere does on his own.</div></div>
I agree that it is a far-out offer. That was the purpose to get a reaction of how far someone would go for the 1OA. Realistically however, 10 of the last 20 drafts show most likely that 1 guy can be valued over 5 other 1st rounders. A coin toss really, plus the offer had 3 more bodies returning, Nylander, an 8OA in the first round, Highmore a solid checking line forward, and Entwistle from team Canada and will be in the NHL. Lafreniere is also the undisputed 1OA which happens less than half the time as well. Not saying that Ottawa should or will do this, just showing that it is plausible that the trade could end up being 10 years from now that Ottawa would win that trade. No one would take that chance however.

I think the initial line-up should be 3 scoring lines and 1 checking: with the center/lw combos being a lock to have consistency unless you shorten up lines or someone is playing well over someone struggling. Caggiula played well on the top line creating room and Saad played well with Kane as well. I really like Carlsson, Hagel, Beaudin and Sikura but I think they wait for an opening in the line-up. All RW's move up and down line-up as needed. Nylander adds scoring to the 4th line.

Marner and Lafreniere would add a lot more scoring chances and give a much needed bump to the powerplay. Dach and Boqvist would benefit developing getting ice time with this talent as well. Crawford will be interesting to see how long he continues with his concussion history.
