Pettersson is having a down year for sure,
but so are a lot of the youngsters on Vancouver
He’d still be a good get imo

But i still don’t think the Sabres are ready to move Dahlin

And to your point,
we do have a lot more in the cupboard at forward than we do on defense
So even if we did wanna move Dahlin, a trade like this probably doesn’t make much sense.
Moving him would leave us with just Jokiharju & Bryson under contract for next year,
with presumably Power & maybe Samuelsson ready to make the leap.
That would just put us so thin at defense next year,
AND moving forward as well

Brief update DongLord23
Player "A" 10 goals, 5 assists 20 games played
Player "B" 3 goals, 7 assists 21 games played
I will give you a hint player "A" and "B" the former plays for the Sabres, the later for Vancouver.
Can you guess who they are?
BTW, I think Casey Mittelstadt will end up being better than Player "A" and Cozens will be only a step behind him
Tell me again why Buffalo NEEDS player "B"!

So even though Pettersson is having a down season so far,
this is a SMALL SAMPLE SIZE compared to the rest of his career which has been really good for a young player

And not that i wanna trade Tage by any means, Bc he really seems to be blossoming into a good young player….
But again, it’s a small sample size

So the trade I’d consider would be that we send them Tage,
and they send us Pettersson- AND, we take Myers contract off their hands for them as a bonus (2 more years at $6mil per)

Idk if that’s enough to tempt them to move him,
but idk that they’d get a better young player back (who’s actually playing well right now) from another team

And i did see u say u think Tage will be better,
but i think Pettersson has a higher ceiling- as he’s already shown in his first few seasons in the league

Idk…. Just an idea that popped into my head

I know it is a small sample size and his shooting percentage is nearly double his career average.
On the other hand he does have a hard shot and he is taking about 50% more shots per game than last year.
I would make that trade, it would certainly help Buffalo to reach the floor the next two seasons, but I would not trade Dahlin for Pettersson.
I have been saying for at least 2 years that big players take longer to develop.
Tage started to blossom when he was sent to Rochester late in the 2018-'19 season, when he had 12 goals and 21 pts in 24 games, then netted 2 goals in 3 playoff games.
I just like to laugh at DongLord23 comments.
But I still think Mittelstadt will be a better set up center, and Cozens needs another year (watch how his stats soar if Tuch is his RW).
TBH both Vancouver and Buffalo ACGM's undervalue Myers.
He still plays a ton of minutes, he is over paid by about $2,000,000.
It is sad but he would be the Sabres top RHD even with Miller.

and https://www.fantasysp.com/trade/nhl/5403604/myers-miller
It would be ironic to have both Pysyk and Myers back together after Murray traded them away for nothing.

It's funny how hard you pivot away when you realize your argument stinks

Petey has 163 points in 184 games. .89 PPG

Dahlin has 119 ponts in 215 games. .55 PPG

Thompson has 50 points in 165 games .3 PPG

Petey last 3 years https://i.imgur.com/eMzzCJF.png

Dahlin last 3 years https://i.imgur.com/DMZFSlr.png

Tage has analytically been one of the worst forwards in the league the last 3 years. This year he's having a good stretch in a small sample of games with a very high shooting %.

Nobody said Buffalo NEEDS Petey. He's just way better than both of them. Anybody who isn't a huge homer can recognize that. If this trade was ever offered Buffalo would be extremely stupid not to take it.
