Hey remember when Pen fans defended the Kapanen trade? I knew you guys would eventually get annoyed with him. You can watch him blow past defenders and do nothing good with his speed a finite amount of times before you realize he just doesn't have enough between the ears to ever put it together.

He would do exactly what he always does. Show crazy good speed, take bad shots a lot and be lazy defensively. He would be what he is every where he's been.

No, I think you misunderstand why I'm suggested trading him and talking about it in subsequent threads. It has nothing to do with his play. The Pens situation is complicated and need to move out salary to keep Rust. The fact that guys like ERod and Heinen are playing so well makes someone like Kap more moveable.

I'd rather move Matheson or Zucker (who are both playing very well mind you), but due to their contracts it's a much harder task.

No one moves a guy they paid such a price for unless they don't believe he's going to be better down the road. Being a leafs fan I wanted Kapanen traded after they lost to Columbus. He cost the leafs 3 goals in that series by blowing his high forward assignment. That alone could have meant a different outcome. He's not a very good player. Should get close to 20 goals a year but costs you as much by poor defensive performances.

This is a major oversimplification of the situation. No matter what one team does at any point in time, many things can change their course of action.

You are dodging this. Kapanen has not been any better in Pittsburgh than he was in TO. He is what he is and it's not really all that special.

I'm not dodging anything. You're projecting your own personal feelings about Kapanen. He was fantastic for us last season and while he was snake-bit a bit this season, he's back on track for 50 points/20ishG and playing the best all-around hockey he has in his career.

I hope you get a haul for him. I have nothing against the Pens. I think someone will give a decent return but they'll also eventually disappointed
