JT Miller - top 6 LW upgrade

Created by: gdg_9
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 26, 2021
Published: Nov. 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
JT Miller is clearly frustrated in VAN.
Might take more than this to get him (upgrade a pick? Add a prospect?)
But he would be a great fit to shore up Leafs top 6 LW.
Ritchie hasn't worked in TO, but his "BIG" attributes are things Benning seems to have valued in the past (assuming he's still GM), so could see Van taking a flyer on him.
Mrazek could give Van a safety net behind Demko next season, while Halak is a penidng UFA.
Frees up $ at G pos. next year for Leafs to extend Campbell, and (still early) emergence of Woll as a potential NHL option, with Campbell legitimately in the Vezina conversation makes Mrazek more expendable.
Leafs would need to run a 21-man roster for much of the rest of the season, yo-yoing Semyonov and Liljegren back and forth from the minors as needed to remain cap compliant, but it's definitely do-able from a cap perspective.

Lol, classic leafs fans trade. Why would Vancouver trade Miller and take back multiyear cap dumps?

Because more than half the league is at or above (LTIR) the cap, so if they are going to get anything of value (i,e, 1st, 2nd, +), they are going to have to take salary back from someone.
Miller also still has a year left, so any team trading for him would need space clear for next year too.

Would you make the same offer for Toffoli, Drouin or Hoffman + Allen in Montreal?

Then prepare to pay alot more if you are sending money back

Vancouver doesn't have to trade him. Or they could retain and really maximize his value

Well to dump Marazek and Ritchie it will take a 2nd in as you say a flat cap world. So the trade boils down to a 1st for Miller and Halak, very underwhelming.

And your quote that th half the league is at the cap or over is correct but it will cost for you dump cap not the Canucks to take on to make easier for the Leafs to make the trade.

PURE ARROGANCE
