Pitts isnt going to trade assets while malkin and crosby are still there. Any time those two make the playoffs they can win. We can have the discussion if pitts should rebuild or not but its very very very clear that they will add and add and add as long as Crosby and malkin are apart of the organization.

Kris Letang is a fine player, and would make sense to acquire as a rental, but aside from the question of whether Pittsburgh would trade him or for what, I don't get the constant compulsion to tinker with the third-best defense (after division leaders Calgary and Carolina) in goals-against in the NHL. And by "tinker," I don't mean adding someone of high calibre, but rather subtracting Holl and Dermott. What do you expect to happen when (not if) someone gets injured?
