I might have overvalued DeBrusk but in my brief reading, it definitely looks like Steel hasn't lived up to his billing so far. I also saw that Comtois just had surgery and will be out but he has also been underperforming this season after producing a career high in points last year.

Everyone undervalues Jake - most in the forums have written him off, but the reality is Cassidy and him don't see eye to eye. He has fallen out of favour with the coaching staff and needs a new start. He has the skills and can skate well. Time will tell on how it all plays out and what value they get in return.

I’d rather ship out Cassidy than debrusk honestly.

Well he does have a Jack Adams, he has been to the cup finals, made the playoffs every season and has a Bruins coaching record of 205-89-41 - granted he doesn't have a cup, but I would define that as being successful in the NHL

He makes a lot of confusing decisions out there. I think that success is more because McAvoy, Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak, and Rask exist. He’s been pretty bad at incorporating youth, and managing his players through tough patches.

Yeah there is an element of the players a coach has to work with, but in reality he has had success. I mean Claude missed the playoffs back to back years and had a 500 record when fired. Bruce jumped in and they haven't missed the playoffs and he took the leash off Marchand. I will agree the management of youth perhaps is lack lustre but no worse than Claude was for years before him. You can't take his success away because he is bad at incorporating youth which in reality hasn't been that bad, just hasn't been great.

I guess I am defining the success the team has had vs a young player.

I think Cassidy has been a hindrance. Something else happened the year that Cassidy stepped in. A 20 year old kid stepped on the ice in the playoffs and instantly became the teams best player.

agree to disagree - being a hindrance and the track record don't agree. I guess if you define NHL coaching success based on if they make younger players good (which there is still a debate) then perhaps, if success is defined on winning, making the playoffs, being identified as the leagues best coach by the league etc. then there is a case to be made that he has had some success.

I also think his mismanages his roster all the freaking time, but the top line and mcavoy are so good, and rask was so good that he just got away with it.
