Value wise that is terrible for Winnipeg and the Jets have no need for DeBrusk.

They need a middle forward and Copp is gone at the end of the year. He is cheaper than Copp and is an RFA who can score 20.

He's cheaper than Copp because he's not as good. Copp would certainly return more than a disgruntled, low end winger if the Jets were to move him. There's no real incentive there for the Jets to downgrade their roster.

Generally 25 year old wingers capable of scoring 20 goals a season are quite frequently wanted by many teams. Don't be delusional about what DeBrusk can deliver just because he needs change of scenery. Its hilarious that people talk about DeBrusk like he doesn't even know how to skate any more. Copper career best in 7 seasons was 39 pts and often misses time due to injury, he is rocking 12 pts in 34 playoff games so lets not pretend he is a super star here.

Nope he's not a super star, just infinitely better than DeBrusk. Jake scored over 20 goals once, 4 years and is 25. We all know he's never getting 20 goals again. This year Copp has 17 points in 22 games while DeBrusk is rocking a whopping 7 in 19. Copp is clearly trending up the last two years while DeBrusk has been sinking like a rock the last 4 seasons. Let's not pretend DeBrusk is much more than an expensive plug now.

I guess they are both expensive plugs right now then. You wont be able to convince me that Copp is a rock star and infinitely better than DeBrusk. Copp is only trending up because when you have 5 seasons as a center averaging 21.8 pts a season its is easy to go up - met him once and he is a great kid - fingers crossed he can continue having a career year and maybe even elevate his game in the playoffs too given his history there isn't anything special to date.
