In General - The cap exists.

MTL Fans - an ENTIRE fan base is telling that Price is not a good fit for them. Not just one/two that just don't like him. Actually, most of the Avs fans would applaud Price and what he has done for the Habs. Its just square pegs don't fit round holes unless you cut the s#@t out of it or the hole... and that is not good management. I know that it is a crazy thought, but I would think that one might want to know what a team needs or its limitations are before insisting that they are in need of something. And a group a people that watch and follow that team more than I do may just be a source to take into consideration other than just clickbait-guess sites. Yes values, typically, are skewed to favor what ever shade of glasses you have on. Such as with JD/Sammy. Some people like him, some don't. He fits a need (middle 6 winger, again an ENTIRE fan base is telling you he is NOT going to play on the 1st line with MacK, Landy and Rants are better, period) and contract/term is work able, but a middle six winger with 2 years of term is never going to be worth a top 4 Dman with 6yrs of term. Unless there is a problem-cap space, performance, personality issues, ect - There isn't one, therefore no NEED to move him. I don't care that his first language is French and you all really want him. He is 23, really good, and affordably cost controlled for FIVE MORE YEARS. Not 30 and 5 more. Statistically, Dmen don't start peaking until they are 26-27 and productivity usually decreases after 30-32. So most likely he is going to get better over the next 3-5 years. The Avs would be insane to move him for rentals (2 years or less) and spare parts/picks. Sammy would be a top pair Dman on over half of the NHL teams. Just because we have 4 guys that could play those type of minutes and he plays on our 2nd pair this year (he lead the team in TOI last year) doesn't mean they will sell him off cheap. At least there is excess (more so nxt year than this yr) and want with Dman- winger trade. The Avs are the highest scoring offense in the league, a forward is not a need. With basically the same D as last year( top 5 last year, Gravy is missed) -- D is not a need. I would not have any fears of putting Kemps or Frankie on the ice against ANY team in the league. Goalie not a need. Health is a need. And the Avs are almost healthy again.

CHI - I think EDM beats us out in offers from a contender. I keep looking at that offer thinking I should have went with a 2nd, just don't want to rewrite that.

What Joe probably does... get a another shut down 6/7 D/PKer and a 3/4 line PK specialist (crazy- actual needs.) The PK took a hit with Bellie and Gravy going. LOC is the new Calvert and rockin it.
