I was looking at Trenin's point production, and I wasn't too impressed, and Valimaki is meant to slot in on the 3rd pair on the left side behind Ekholm and Josi, effectively taking Borocop's spot

Point production isn't really Trenin's job. NSH already has Davies and Farrance to fight over the 3rd LD spot next season. Preds decline.

If they trade Ekholm away for future assets though, cause I can't tell if this Preds team is trying to rebuild or be competitive, and don't tell me the answer lies somewhere in between

Ekholm was just re-signed a few months ago. He's not going anywhere.
