Jets_2021-22_with_B-Little

Created by: awpgjetsfan
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 22, 2021
Published: Dec. 22, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I was thinking that this years cap space obviously came because of Brian Little LTIR, what would the roster look like if he was around. We'd not have got one of our new D-men for sure, so Schmidt is out due to cap constraints...we'll undo the Vancouver trade.

The other consideration is if we had protected Appleton instead of Stanley. I'll include that here too.

Conclusion - good forward depth esp. at center...pricey 3rd line :) . But the right side D - everyone is playing up a spot in the lineup which may have been troublesome.

Thoughts?

Little hasn’t played in years… he’s done. He has 2 years left on his current contract and he and the team are content for him to ride out LTIR so he can collect his salary instead of him officially retiring.
He won’t be coming back.

As far as what if….
Little was declining when he got injured and was being played above his ability by PoMo… (at least PoMo was consistent with that)
if he were still around, this team wouldn’t have PLD, and likely a couple other players as trades were made to fill the hole left when Little got injured, and those trades wouldn’t happen.
Chances are the team would be declining toward a rebuild

Well at least this "what if" Armchair GM isn't a Bruins re-draft of 2015.😉

Definitely agree that with Little there is no PLD.

Yes for sure Little is done, this was a What If exercise.

I hadn't thought of that angle but it makes sense that that the injury forced the Jets hand to seek out another center.
