It’s not their fault that we keep losing. It’s the oilers players fault. Firing people is not the answer.. not here. They are doing as much as they can, it’s up to the players now. I find it ridiculous of how many people say that we should fire them.

No it’s there fault holland made our defence worse in the offseason and tippet doesn’t give young players a proper chance.

He gave Bouchard top pair minutes, McLeod top 6 minutes today. What other guys deserve to be up right now? Nobody.. and Holland did not make our defence worse. The Keith Ceci paying has been decent, and Larssons leaving was mainly because of the fans. I’m sure he just used the one more year thing as a excuse. The fans are atrocious! Not many players want to come because of them. Holland did what he needed to do to try and keep our team good. We didn’t have much money, nobody wanted to come I bet you, and who knows Bouchard was going to be this good this early! It’s not their fault. Not even close.

The Keith trade was terrible, what a waste of cap space.

He has been okay for the oilers thus far in my opinion, but we needed a defensive defence man quick after Larsson left.

Yep

The thing with Holland. He seems to have the right ideas but they never come together. This reminds me of his final years in Detroit after the golden era

This is the Oilers depth scoring numbers when RNH, Mcdavid, and Draisaitl are not on the ice

19/20 goalshare with 97/29/93 off the ice: 38%, 1.47 GF/60, 2.37 GA/60

20/21 goalshare with 97/29/93 off the ice: 35%, 1.4 GF/60, 2.62 GA/60

21/22 goalshare with 97/29/93 off the ice: 30%, 1.75 GF/60, 4 GA/60

So depth as you said is Issue #1

Issue #2 wtf did Holland spend 30mill on in FA

1. Zach Hyman 5.5mill x 7 years... (2 years of good and 5 years of torture -->Lucic)
2. Cody Ceci 3.25mill x 4 years...
3. Mike Smith 2mill x 2 years (Could have traded for Nedeljkovic or Vanacek)
4. Derek Ryan 1.25mill x 2 years (Was supposed to be 3c but is now 4c as 0 production happens)
5. Tyson Barrie 4.5mill x 2 years... (Already on the block)

Guys he could have signed

1. Pius Suter 3.25mill (3rd line center)
2. A proper starter if they dont trade for the options mentioned (Anderson 4.5x2 yrs)
3. Heinen 1.1mill x 1 year
4. Donato 750k x 1 year

And while not a signing buyout Koskinen (saves 3mill in space)

Issue #3 Offseason Trades

1. Bear for Foegele (Bear was a good young top 4 Dman and was moved for Foegele who has not been that productive)
2. Duncan Keith (You paid for a cap dump)

Some trades he could have made

1. Ellis (replace Myers with Bear and Patrick with a 2nd for the basis)
2. Graves (cost a 3rd)
3. Arvidsson (cost a 2nd + 3rd)
4. Buchnevich (before the confirmed illness Archibald + 2nd)
5. Nedeljkovic (Cost a 3rd + a goalie who never signed in Carolina)

Of these 4 Ellis, Graves, and Arvidsson would have been perfect

And finally Issue #4 Tippet and Holland

The guy is to predictable now and while you cant always stop Mcdavid and Draisaitl as the numbers show you slow or stop them Oilers got no depth scoring so usually ends up in a loss or less than 5 goals. While for Holland he is shown to not have the right ideas when it comes to running Edmonton. What Edmonton needed was a GM like Rutherford who would have pushed them into serious contention.

Keith sucks he has been terrible and tippet gave pulijarvi only 13 min of ice time and he put Turris on pp1 and kassian was on the ice with the empty net if that doesn’t scream a bad coach idk what does.

Consider the deployment as well.
Bottom 6 players getting buried in the DZone is of course going to result in poor results 5v5, a lack of secondary scoring, and also kill morale.
You can't use players solely to prop up your star forwards. They need to have the opportunity to contribute as well, and your stars need to use their skills at 5v5 in all three zones.
You can't rely only on a handful of players on defense. There needs to be more of a team effort and shared responsibility. That will also bring a team together, when they are fighting to give teammates better results and making their jobs easier, instead of seeing how many points one guy can rack up.

Yup, a pretty spot on assessment, really can't believe he wasn't in on Buchnevich, he'd make that top 6 so much better.

I know Edmonton isn't a top landing spot for free agents but is it a stretch to think Heinen wouldn't of signed in Edmonton for the D.Ryan deal or a little bit more? He'd be way better for the Oilers right now and their bottom six wouldn't look so terrible.

To think Buchnevich makes a bit more then Keith and Heinen a bit less then D.Ryan. I know the Hyman contract won't age well but he'll be good for a few years, adding ZH and Buch to McD, Drai, RNH, JP gives them a solid top 6 and adding Heinen to the 3rd line with McLeod and Yam makes for a decent 3rd line, then build a 4th line that plays physical, defensive and breaks even and they'd be in such a way better overall situation.

Its crazy the misses he's had as GM in such a short amount of time.
