So I think these contracts are off in terms of cap hits. Geno and Tanger are definitely not going to take that kind of pay cut. I don’t see Geno signing anywhere for under 7mil per and Tanger will probably get over 8 per with his play.

ERod has been great but 4 mil is a bit much. I’d say 3 would get him back. If he does get to 4 it’s probably elsewhere. Kapanen probably isn’t resigning for less and a trade looks the best route. 4 million per for every defenseman on the team is too much

Im not sure geno will be offered anything above 7. take into account his injury history plus age i don't see it. letang can definitely get 8 plus but i hope he considers take a pay cut to finish his career here. 7M would be ideal for him

I think he’s going to get 8 from us for about 3 years. Makin can get 7 from a team that has a ton of cap and needs to sell tickets. Think about a team like the coyotes

good point. i doubt geno goes to a team who won't be competing for the final years of his career. id be fine with giving geno 7 and tanger somewhere around 8. they'd have likely havr to offload salary (zucker)

I honestly don’t want Geno back. The team looks great without him and I don’t think he’s worth 7 per anymore

that's a relatively hot take but i dont see them getting a better 2C if they want to keep competing for a cup. he had 5 points in 4 playoff games last season on pretty much one leg. they aren't eye popping numbers but he stood as one of their better players. If he's as healthy as he says he is, he'll only make this team better. we shall see

Zucker alone is better than Drouin, so that trade is just a disaster in general.

Colin Miller isn't worth $4 million, playing him on the bottom is a waste of cap space when there will be cheaper and better players available in free agency. Not to mention the organization already has Ruhwedel who will cost a fraction of that and is significantly better than Miller.

Charlie Lindgren isn't a good option for backup, especially not for $2 million

Zucker is paid 5 mil can’t score for the life of him, Drouin is 3 years younger and has 17 points in 27 games for the worst team in the east, Zucker like has been really bad, JR screwed up, quit denying it, Zucker’s a liability.

Ruhwedel is ok but people are overly obsessed with him and he’s over 30. Miller can kill penalties sufficiently and also puts up 30 points (career high being 41)

Lindgren has been lights out in the starts he’s made for St. Louis this year and anything is better than DeSmith.

They are doing the trade for POJ and the 2nd, Zucker is paid 5 million to be absolutely abysmal at finishing, I don’t know why so many people still think he’s good

Zucker does everything right but it just comes down to bad finishing luck. He generates scoring chances at a good rate and he's very good defensively. He has the lowest goals scored above expected this year.

Drouin stinks. He's not a positive impact player offensively and he's one of the worst defensive players in the league no questions asked. He is not better than Zucker. If you disagree, you're wrong.

Ruhwedel has been nothing short of amazing in the role he's been assigned this year. It makes zero sense to sign a worse player at more than 4x the cap hit and to stick him on the bottom pair.

Lindgren has been good, but goaltending is too random so there's no guarantee he replicates this performance next year. He's not worth risking $2 million on.

The only thing this has done is show that you know nothing about the Pens and who is actually good in the NHL today

The trade sucks, would not do it.

As for the cap raise, don't hold your breath.
I know you are going to say they already said it. But I'm going to say, they spoke too soon and said that crap before Canada started trying to shut fans out of arenas and that situation could get worse.
There isn't much breathing room on a 1 mil cap raise, and that's probably going to be blow given less fans.

I don’t understand why people think Zucker is good, at all, he’s paid 5 mil to not score, seems to me every time he’s taken off a line that line gets better. Drouin has 17 points in 27 games on the worst team in the east and 2nd worst in the entire NHL and POJ isn’t gonna get to play for us cuz of JR handicapping our left side with bad contracts
