Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2022
Published: Jan. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Take 2 quality dmen who I think fit quite well into their roster currently and in the future from teams hard pressed against the cap. Got to use all those picks while you can. Would agree that their prospect pool is heavy already defensively, but I think there's a lot of value in getting guys in who help you compete right away. Ville Husso is very handsome.

PLD would be fun! But I like holding on to 1sts especially when your roster is where DET is at currently. PLD would cost at minimum a 1/2/3, plus his dad is in the organization still, think both sides would be enticed to keep it together. OTT matches at almost any number, and CHI isn't gonna give up on a #3 pick unless it comes with a massive haul in return

I agree with you, but it would be fun!

Given the state of our team, I think we're realistically missing two things:
1. A 2C who can step in as 1C when Larkin is out
2. Maturation of some of our prospects (Edvinsson, Berggren, Johansson, Niederbach, etc)

Because of this, I'd now be comfortable with sending an offer sheet to a high-value player and giving up 1/2/3 picks.

I absolutely love the idea of offersheeting a LD, but maybe just one? These are both very reasonable contracts so maybe not, but if I’m in Stevie’s shoes, I might want to conserve a bit of cap for Bert, Larkin, Seider, and Raymond when they eventually need new deals in a year or two.

Edit: add Ned to the list of new contracts as well.

Yeah I definitely went heavy on LDs, I'm viewing Sandin as expendable, watch him every TOR game and just feel like he's poised to break out, could garner some nice return in the trade market once Edvinsson gets to a top 4 level -- feel like there's bound to be a disgruntled star center somewhere down the line and DET has the ammo to make a quality push at that. And I wouldn't worry to much about cap space, but could definitely see an argument for playing things a bit more conservative to lock down those extensions.
