A Philly scout told Friedman that they were debating between Patrick and Heiskanen, not Makar.

Imagine Boston if in 2015 they did this....Mathew Barzal,Kyle Connor, Thomas Chabot instead of Zboril,DeBrusk,Senyshyn? those where the next three guys taken after Boston's three picks not to mention.....Eriksson Ek Boeser Konecny Aho or better yet the Leafs take Aho/Carlo over Derrmott

Bobby Clarke actually quoted "All the scouts and rest of the management team wanted makar or Heiskanen, but the gm at the time, Ron Hextall made some pretty bad picks which is the reason the flyers struggle quite a bit

stupid take by him. he's just tryna protect his friend in fletcher whose made some disastrous moves for philly. comcast is looking for a sacrificial lamb and clarke doesn't that to be the current gm

I heard that story, Friedman got the quote from the scout after that story broke. Clarke wants Fletcher to keep his job. I'm not defending Hextaxl but it seems Clarke picked the wrong D in his story (or, chose Makar because he's the better of the two to make it seem worse). Regardless, Friedman has long reported, even when Hextal was GM, that he was not seeing eye to eye with a lot of Philly alumni including Bobby Clarke. So I'd take everything Clarke says with a grain of salt
