ARI covers 50% of the 50% coming to TOR on Subban, and gets a 4th for their help, along with Ritchie to help them get to the floor next year.

So Arizona is rewarded for taking on 25% of Subban’s salary by getting a cap dump and a 4th round pick? Don’t see them doing that

It might need to be a little higher, but next year starts the real youth movement in ARI, which means they will struggle to get to the cap floor. They need around 30 mil, and they're going to be loaded with entry level deals. It costs them nothing in salary, just the hit, and Ritchie will help them get to the cap. TOR can probably throw them a prospect as well, but there's no way ARI gets to the floor through free agency.

ARI did this several times over the past couple years for mid round picks, and they will continue to do so until they're ready.

I don’t hate the idea at all, just think Arizona would want more
