Blackwood isn't the problem, the team is really young (especially on offense), and need to be better defensively. You're probably not going to get Hertl and Forsberg at that price, but getting one of them definitely makes the team harder to play against. I think Nico is really going to have to take the reins and be a 200 foot center on a shutdown line.

I think you need to spread the money out a little down through you bottom six.

I agree, drafted him in fantasy, I expected the Devils to be as successful as the Kings have been this season. They have a lot of quantity up front, but they really need some more quality forwards. I love Bratt and Hughes is breaking out, but they need help for sure.

See but the Kings have better veterans. They've got Brown, Kopitar, Doughty and Quick leading their young core along. No offense we've got Tatar, Subban and Bernier. Plus we do have the youngest team in the league.

Yeah, after the first 15 games I realized the difference in leadership for sure. New Jersey could really benefit from bringing in Hertl or Forsberg. They should also explore some older guys like Pavelski and Giroux if those players are willing to make the move. They need more mentoring on their team.

I'd love Forsberg, doubt he'll come here though. Do we try for a cheaper option in Rielly Smith?

I'm a Blackwood fan, but the truth is he hasn't been good. Yes, the defense needs to be improved, but in his last 50 games MB has a Save Percentage below .900, that's more than a bad stretch/bad luck. That's basically a season's worth of poor play.

With that said anyone can have a down year, so I'm willing to give him a mulligan over that time period (2021), but if he doesn't play well the rest of the year the devils might need to consider other options. Cause at that point that's more than just a bad year, it's regression.
