Description

The idea is trying to make the best team possible.
This is definitely considering line combos, roles, chemistry, defensive prowess etc... not just pure talent.
Also considered special teams.

Happy to have friendly debate about any of it.
Pretty much everything has some thought behind it.

I like this a lot. Good job. Only critique would be adding Panarin, but I’m biased so I can’t hold it against ya.

Quinn hughes and john carlson as honorable mentions for an all world team makes me want to puke, but i like most of this roster.

Panarin got snubbed haha. Once the top 9 were locked up, he doesn't really work in a 4th line role.
Stone was another one that I kind of knowingly snubbed, but chose to go with more skill/speed

I think Hughes is good. Bad defensively, but his team isn't great.
Carlson gets a bad wrap, but he's insane offensively... in the last 3 seasons, Carlson leads all D in points, and he has a massive lead in even strength points in that time too.
Last 3 years he leads with 100 ESPoints. Next highest..... 80....

Oh? He single handedly cost them a game in the playoffs that would have had them up 2-0 against Boston last year. Haven’t won a playoff round in 3 years. After a hot start have been slipping, now in a wildcard spot. Worst point percentage of any team in the playoff picture in the east. “Okay,” is probably the absolute nicest thing you could say about the caps.

They won a round 2 seasons ago.

He's been the top D-man on one of the most successful teams in the last 10-13 years.
With Carlson, they have won their division 8 times, gotten more regular season points than any other NHL franchise, and won a cup.
And as I said Carlson has some of the best offensive numbers as a Dman in any timeframe this decade.

So as much as he has defensive flaws... He is still pretty good. He was only an honourable mention on this post. Theres a few guys who could be more deserving but thats it.
