What is the Leafs motive for giving up a cost friendly RHD, a decent prospect and a 2nd for a 3rd pair DMan, a depth forward and a 7th?

Lauzon I believe can throw his body around so at best here it would be Holl for Lauzon and a 5th-7th(can be argued).

Flames would need to make a separate deal before a Giordano deal to clear room for his full cap, Seattle can't retain on him in a trade to Calgary. Which in turn doesn't make sense for Calgary to bring in a guy for the bottom pair at 6.75M

Tre would work day and night to get gio back, because when sutter came in, he was the only player sutter loved off the bat that didnt play for him before. Also flames need a solid leader other than Tkachuk

Yeah I agree, neither Lauzon or Blackwell really move the needle for the Leafs.

I think the same for Pittsburgh as were giving up Zucker (who I think has value even tho everyone uses him as a cap dump) POJ (whos are 2nd best prospect) for an Soucy who will play on the 3rd pairing on his offside and Appleton who would be a healthy scratch for us when were fully healthy.

I like Soucy and he has value just not for Pittsburgh unless we traded Pettersson or Matheson

Sure, I certainly don't disagree with a lack of leadership on the roster but I think that Giordano playing on the bottom pair at 6.75 million for the rest of the season is a bad use of that roster slot. If there was a third team involved and half was retained elsewhere I could possibly see it but then Calgary is giving up another asset for a team to retain on a third pairing D man, there isn't really a good scenario where Giordano comes back to Calgary this season. In terms of leadership and guys available at the deadline, I want everything to do with Pavelski or Giroux as much as I think he would never waive to Calgary.
