You can only retain on three guys per cycle and if you're trading Gallagher and his intergalactically-awful contract, he's going to be one of them.

Why should Carolina consider this? Gallagher hasn’t played that good this season, and Skjei is doing really well, especially right now. And why would Carolina add if this was the basis for a trade. Gallagher is on a bad contract, Skjei is on a pretty decent contract, albeit a little overpriced. Also, the Canes don’t need a RW, they need a scoring top 6 LW more.

I don't think that most fans, especially most Montreal fans, appreciate how horrible it is (and will be) to owe Gallagher $8 million in actual cash for 2023-2024 and $9 million in actual cash for 2024-2025, at the end of which season Gallagher turns 33. That's particularly burdensome for small-market teams like Carolina and Anaheim, to mention nothing of Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.

You undervalued chariot & Toffoli they a 1st and a pick or a prospect. Even the sports people are calling these out. We are not just going to do a fire sale and not get a value rebuild out of it.

My friend, when you're owned by a Billionaire who set half a bill on fire for the AAF, 17 mil is nothing if the player is worth it...
