This doesn't fit from the Wild perspective. We have Kaprizov, Zuccarello, Fiala and Boldy as our top six wings, and as it stands, Greenway is a better fit for the line he's on than Kapanen would be. Kapanen simply wouldn't have a logical spot on the roster. And we'd still have to move on from him this summer because we can't fit him under the cap next season.

He doesn't play with Sid. He's played with Carter most of the year, and a bit with ERod. Geno has been back 8 games, he's now with him.

Would Carter instead of Kapanen make more sense? I heard they need a C and Carter could certainly work in your middle 6.

Carter would make a lot of sense and I would gladly do Greenway for Carter but I have doubts as to whether Guerin would move a piece off the roster like that at the deadline. It might be futures for Carter, with Greenway being moved this summer.

Of course it'll depend on the price for Carter, but at least in theory, he would be a great fit for what we'd be looking for if we were to make a deadline deal.

Why not trade Kapanen for Lafreniere? He's also a big physical player, probably has more upside?

I think NYR's management is not so good, so they'll probably pull the trigger. Plus NYR is in win-now mode and Lafreniere doesn't fit the team needs cuz he is an all grit type player which they already have plenty of.

If NYR said they were trading Lafreniere for whatever reason, 30 GM's in the league would voluntarily offer more than Kapanen as their starting point, and then most would go up from there.

I just don't think it's right to give an unproven player so big of an offer though. You seldom trade proven players for a prospect.

Trading proven players for prospects happen all the time, and better players than Kapanen get worse prospects than Lafreniere.

I wonder if his value has gone down. It used to be pretty high but he doesn't really fit NYR so the situation has changed.
