If you're going to be paying that much for a 2c why not go and get Hertl?

Um hello...This is the Penguins we're talking about, they are going to be loyal to the player that led the playoffs in scoring twice out of their 3 championships. were you living under a rock when that happened?

Also OP, I think Kapanen is not a great fit for PIT, I would try to trade him for Lafreniere or another struggling prospect with top 6 potential. The Penguins organization is great at developing prospects and I think Lafreniere fits the type of player that'd work in their system.

That sounds like it happened in the past. Didnt know the 2017 cup was still up for grabs. If you want to win in the future, loyalty goes out the window.

Geno has been the third or fourth best center since the lockout, he's still contributing, it would be straight up disrespectful to walk away from him after everything he's done.

Still elite huh? Yesh bud that's some grade a homerism.
Also, maybe look at an age curve. Just a gander may help you greatly.

Homerism? If Matthews needed a new contract at this age and achieved the same as Geno, I bet you’d want to keep him as a Leaf for the remainder of his career.

Also, age has not effected Geno. Sharing the ice with Jack Johnson and Covid was the only thing that got in his way, he has been fantastic.

so let me get this right.
They are just going to walk away from RFA Heinen, who is on a what 19-20 goal pace this year?
Yeah none of this is happening.
What will happen is ERod will be gone next year. They aren't going to make that mistake.
Nor will the be opting for Radulov and his really poor season to come be the 2RW.
