I think we are better off keeping Severson unless we know he is going to UFA. I would trust slotting Walsh into Subbans spot, but not sure he is ready for top-4 role. Our blueline should be the priority, imo.

Leafs aren't trading Knies and have no interest in moving Knies at all, he is our closest prospect to being NHL ready. Replace him with Robertson and the Leafs consider

If they don't get a haul like this for him, I would agree. Devils should resign Severson. This is also taking into the thinking that the Devils will be drafting Nemec or Jiricek with their first rounder this year who could hopefully fill in Severson's role in a year or two and move past Hamilton when he inevitably starts to decline.

Sure, but the Devil's probably don't WANT to move Severson either. Knies will be very good but he's probably not playing in the NHL until the 2023-2024 season. I think Severson is massively underrated by other fanbases and the Leafs getting him for two years and Zacha would drastically increase their chances for winning a cup in the next two seasons. If they don't win, I dont see Dubas making it until 2024 which makes this trade increase the likelihood of him keeping his job.

Leafs don't need Zacha and that's a big overpay for Severson. Why do folks think the Leafs need Severson so much? Wouldn't the other 26 teams that have worse GAA than the Leafs be interested?

There is talk that he could be making the NHL next season but he is our closest prospect compared to the others (even closer than Robertson)

I am guessing Toronto fans believe Leafs need/want Severson because Leaf blogs, reporters, podcasts keep telling them he is, or should be, their #1 target. Every time one of those articles appears, trades on ACGM follow.
