If I might say, Detroit has not been good this year. I can presume that this is common knowledge, yes. The same thing goes for Edmonton. Outside of their hot start, they have been very bad. So neither team has been performing very good as of late, but if I had to pick one of these teams to win the Cup within 5 years, I would have to choose Detroit, as they actually have a complete team. And by complete team, it’s not just 2 of the best players in the league and everyone else (Edmonton).
That being said, Edmonton doesn’t consider that as they would be giving up an arguably top 20 prospect isn’t he league. However the goalie swap of Koskinen and Greiss I could see happening. Koskinen has played better this year, but I think Greiss half retained holds more value than Koskinen. The Oilers would have to add, but it really wouldn’t be that much, as both players could be considered cap dumps. Leddy has been good for the Wings in my opinion, as they really needed a veteran presence to help mentor their young guns. The first thing Edmonton would have to address is their goaltending situation, because as it stands, they will go nowhere with fast with their tandem of Koskinen and Smith. They have Skinner as well, but I think he isn’t completely ready for a full time starter role (one more year might be all he needs though). The Oilers would then have to address their dcore and their depth scoring issues, and only when they fix those, will they be a contender. I do like the Greiss and Leddy moves for Edmonton, but you won’t get Holloway in that kind of package.
