ain't nobody taking OEL off your hands.............unless you eat half the salary and add in a kicker prospect or pick.

I understand that nobody would want his contract at his age, but come on. He has definitely been a top 4 d-man this year. Not league wise, but he goes anywhere, he's playing top 4 minutes. His underlying stats and defensive stats are incredible.

The problem is no one competitive can afford that contract for the next number of years. And he's been forced into a top 4 role, majority of teams in a playoff spot would have him in their bottom 4. You'd have to cover 50% of his contract and even then he depreciates Millers trade value. He's being paid over 8mil a year and he's got 8 points and only a +1. he's paid to be an impact player, and he's just not that anymore. VAN had to take him to clear a bunch of garbage contracts, and until he only has a year or two left they're stuck with him. Luke Schenn has more value than him currently in the trade market.

Ekman-Larsson does a lot defensively even if the offense hasn't been there this season

but at a 7-8m cap hit both the O and the D need to be there.

True, and I'd give OEL the chance to bounce back offensively next season because this season for the Canucks has been messy

If he comes back next year, averages 20 minutes a game, puts up 40 points and is a good +/-, his value is way back up.............but then at that point, will management even want to deal him?

Exactly my point, I don't like to judge players based on one season
